COVID-19の発生により引き起こされた困難な状況下にもかかわらず、COVID -19対策に関わる日仏国際共同研究に対して大きなご支援いただきまして、心からお礼申し上げます。
いただきましたご寄付は、Covid-19の蔓延を防ぐために、京都大学病院の医療従事者の血清学的検査を実施するためにありがたく使用させていただきますが、生物医学分野に横たわる多くのギャップ（溝）を乗り越えるために計画されているより広範な日仏共同研究を推進するための大きな支えともなります。
現在、革新的な技術を実用化し現場に導入するに際して、乗り越えなければならない溝が多数存在します。パスツール研究所は、ウイルスの生物学研究の長い歴史の中で様々な発見を重ね、またそれに基づいた多くの革新的技術を生み出してきました。しかしながら、そういった革新的技術から生まれる新たな製品を世界の人達に手頃な価格で提供することは、依然として困難です。政府からの支援は常に限られていますし、工業界から支援を受けて生まれた製品は人々が容易に手を出せない価格が設定されてしまいます。
皆様からいただきましたご寄付で、基礎科学・橋渡し研究*・公衆衛生学の間の溝、学界と産業界の間の溝、社会科学と生命科学の間の溝、そして最後に、東西の溝、例えば日本とフランスの溝を埋める重要な戦略を開始したいと考えております。
今後は本研究の進捗状況に加え、より野心的な「Bridging Gaps」計画の新たな展開について、常に最新情報をお届けします。
皆様のご支援は、私達が「違い」を生み出すための大きな支えとなります。ご支援に心より感謝いたします。

We would like to sincerely thank your generosity for donation to support our endeavor between Japan and France under this difficult situation caused by the outbreak of COVID-19.
Your generous donation helps us to conduct a serological test for health care workers in Kyoto university hospital for better prevention of Covid-19 spread. Moreover, it supports a more extensive program, including this serological examination, to bridge gaps in the biomedical field.
Currently, some gaps prevent us from bringing innovative technology into a real application. Institut Pasteur has a long history of studying the biology of viruses. From our discoveries, we generated many innovative technologies. However, to get benefits from innovative technologies for the general public at a reasonable price is still challenging. Supports from governments are always limited, whereas support from the industry makes the cost of products unaffordable.
This generous donation is a start of a vital strategy to bridge gaps between basic sciences, translational research, and public health, a gap between academia and industry, a gap between social sciences and life sciences, and finally, a gap between East and West such as Japan and France.
We will keep you updated on the progress of our project and future development of this more ambitious “bridging gaps” program.
